Account Lifecycle & Inactivity

How Gadget Trade handles inactive accounts, account closure, data retention and long-term account records.

Inactive accounts

An account can become inactive when the user stops signing in or using marketplace features. Inactivity does not automatically transfer ownership of listings, balances, disputes or business records to another person.

Listings and transactions

Before closing or abandoning an account, sellers should resolve active orders, remove unavailable listings and retain any records needed for open disputes, payments, returns or legal obligations. Gadget Trade may preserve records that it is required or reasonably permitted to retain.

Account closure

Users can use the supported account controls or contact Support to request closure where the account is eligible for closure. Security, fraud, payment, dispute, legal or record-retention requirements may affect when some records can be deleted.

Digital inheritance

Gadget Trade does not automatically transfer an account to a family member, employee or estate representative merely because the account has been inactive. A lawful representative may need to provide appropriate documentation before Support can discuss records or permitted account actions.

Data retention

Retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason it is held. Account, transaction, security, payment and dispute records can have different retention requirements. See the Privacy Policy for the broader data-handling framework.
