Nova Price Intelligence Methodology

An estimate, not a guaranteed buyout

Nova Price Intelligence provides a marketplace estimate based on available product and market information. An estimate is not a legally binding purchase offer and does not automatically create a Gadget Trade buyback obligation.

Signals Nova can consider

• Brand, model and product variant.
• Storage, configuration and other identifying specifications.
• Condition and standardized grade where available.
• Current marketplace asking prices and other eligible market signals.
• Location and availability signals where relevant.
• Freshness and reliability of the underlying market data.

Data freshness

Market information becomes less representative as it ages. Nova should therefore weight recent eligible observations more heavily and reduce the influence of stale listings. A listing that has remained unchanged for a long period should not be treated as equivalent to a newly observed market transaction.

Condition matters

Two devices with the same model and storage can have materially different values because of condition, repairs, battery health, accessories, authenticity and other factors. A Nova estimate should be interpreted together with the listing’s condition and verification information.

Confidence and uncertainty

Where the available market data is sparse, inconsistent or stale, Nova may provide a broader estimate or lower-confidence explanation. Users should not interpret a single number as a guaranteed resale price.

Buyback offers

A future or participating merchant buyback programme can make a separate commercial offer. The actual offer is determined by the buyer or programme terms after the device and transaction requirements are reviewed; it is distinct from Nova’s informational estimate.
