Nova Research
How Nova researches current public information, separates web research from marketplace records and presents sources so users can inspect the information behind an answer.
01What Nova Research is
Nova Research is the research capability used when a question benefits from current public information. It is designed for topics such as recent gadget releases, current specifications, public pricing, availability, announcements and other time-sensitive information.
Research is intended to improve freshness and make the information used in an answer easier to inspect.
021. Search when freshness matters
Nova can use managed web search through the production AI integration when a question requires information that may have changed since the model’s underlying knowledge was created. The server handles the provider credentials rather than exposing them to the browser.
032. Use public pages for deeper context
For supported research tasks, Nova can work with public web pages when a specific official product page, announcement, policy or documentation page is relevant. This helps the answer use the details contained in the source rather than relying only on a search summary.
043. Sources make research inspectable
When research returns useful sources, Nova can present links to the public pages used for the answer. A source link lets you inspect the evidence yourself; it does not mean that every source is equally authoritative or that Nova’s interpretation is guaranteed to be correct.
054. Marketplace data and web research have different jobs
For a Gadget Trade listing, the marketplace record is the source of truth for that listing’s own price, stock and seller information. Public research is better suited to external facts such as specifications, release information, public announcements and broader market context.
Nova may combine both types of information when the task requires it, while keeping their roles distinct.
065. Research can be multi-step
More involved questions may require several pieces of evidence. Nova can combine marketplace context, search results, public-page context and supported application tools before producing a readable answer.
The purpose is to collect relevant evidence first and present the result clearly rather than exposing raw tool output.
07Research limitations
- Web pages can be outdated, unavailable, biased or contradictory.
- Search ranking is not a guarantee that a source is authoritative.
- Public information can change after a research response is generated.
- Important product, payment, legal, safety and transaction decisions should be checked against the authoritative source or Gadget Trade record.
- Nova can still misunderstand or incorrectly summarise a source.
08Good research questions for Nova
- What is the latest official specification for this gadget?
- Compare the current versions of these two devices.
- What changed in the latest product release?
- Summarise this official product or policy page.
- Find current public information and show me the sources.
