1. Standardized condition grades

Gadget Trade uses a common condition vocabulary instead of relying only on seller phrases such as “9/10” or “very neat”. New, Open-box, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C and Grade D have defined meanings. Sellers remain responsible for describing the actual item and disclosing material faults.

  • New — unused or factory-new as represented.
  • Open-box — opened with minimal or no meaningful use.
  • Grade A — excellent used condition with minor cosmetic signs only.
  • Grade B — good condition with normal visible wear.
  • Grade C — noticeable wear that is fully disclosed.
  • Grade D — heavy wear or a material functional limitation that is disclosed.
2. Mandatory condition disclosure

Sellers must disclose material screen, battery, camera, audio, charging, biometric, connectivity and functional problems that they know or reasonably should know about. Repairs, replaced parts, refurbished status and missing important accessories must also be disclosed where relevant.

3. Device diagnostics

Where the diagnostic flow is available, Gadget Trade records the source, test result, completion time and a tamper-evident report hash. Supported checks can include battery health, display, touch, camera, audio, charging, biometrics and connectivity. A browser cannot authoritatively read every device-restricted value, so unavailable tests are recorded as unavailable rather than invented.

4. What a diagnostic result means

A passed diagnostic is evidence of the checks that actually ran. It is not a guarantee of ownership, authenticity, future performance or freedom from every defect. Buyers should compare the delivered device with the listing and use the dispute process if there is a material mismatch.

5. Related policies

Device trust works together with the marketplace safety, counterfeit, payment, shipping and dispute policies.

6. Scope and application

This policy applies to the Gadget Trade marketplace features and transactions to which the policy is relevant. It should be read together with the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, marketplace safety rules, payment and dispute policies, and any listing-specific information shown at the time of a transaction.

7. Records and evidence

Where a workflow creates order, listing, payment, verification, delivery or communication records, those records may be used to understand what happened and to resolve a support request or dispute. Users should keep relevant receipts, photographs, messages, tracking information and other evidence until the matter is resolved.

8. User responsibility

Users are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping account credentials secure, reviewing important order details before confirming a transaction and promptly reporting material problems through the official Gadget Trade support channels.

9. Policy updates

Gadget Trade may update this policy when marketplace workflows, security requirements, payment processes, delivery arrangements or applicable requirements change. The current version published on Gadget Trade is the version that applies to new activity after publication.
